FINANCIAL SECURITY TO VEER NARIS(WIDOWS OF MARTYRED SOLDIERS)
HONORABLE RAKSHA MANTRI SHRI RAJNATH SINGH PRESENTED CHEQUES TO VEER NARIS
Freedom of the Nation takes its toll in the form of 150-200 martyred soldiers every year. Their widows (Veer Naris) are generally in mid 20s and have to sustain themselves for next few decades in very trying circumstances and discharge their responsibilities viz. bring up their children, build a house, look after parents / parents in laws. An unenviable life by any criteria !
India has the largest number of such Veer Naris (over 25000) in the world. Notwithstanding, the compensation by the Govt, there is no institutional support in the country to provide them proper guidance, which remains a ‘National Social Responsibility’. It is towards this aim that we wish to create a robust fund which will be utilised in a systematic manner to provide time to time support to such Veer Naris including their dependents for various events in their life.
Veterans India is already honoring and providing financial help to such Veer Naris during two events organised every year at Delhi, namely, ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ and ‘Vijay Diwas’. A generous helping hand from 136 crore Indians can resolve this vexing problem forever. We plan to allocate 10% of the total contribution received to help these Veer Naris.
